In this course we will tackle the fundamentals of self-rescue. These are essential skills for every team member planning to explore technical terrain. Although typically taught in the rock setting these skills can be applied to all technical endeavors, including ice, alpine and mountaineering. Depending on your current experience level the basic fundamentals can be introduced in a day, but more advanced skills and comprehension typically requires multiple. We will work with you to plan the course length based on your goals. Possible skills taught include the following:
- Belay escape
- Load transfers
- Knots and hitches including the munter-mule
- Rappelling or ascending to an injured climber
- Raising and lowering systems
- Tandem rappels
- Counter-balance rappels
