Senior Guide

Josh grew up a country boy in Appalachia and will never take for granted what an amazing experience it was to be barefoot running around the hills sunup to sundown. He was also lucky enough to have a dad who loved skiing and instilled an enduring passion for the mountains in him before he passed.

After high school Josh flew the coop and joined the military in 2005 spending six years as a Navy SEAL. He fought in two wars and took great pride in his role as a “point man” teaching his buddies how to move through the mountains leading them through all the hazards they faced. Since transitioning back to civilian life he has found great joy in carrying that role forward, teaching exposure limiting, efficient movement in the mountains and opening up a world of possibilities. He grew up a ski bum, and after the military all he wanted to do was get back to that feeling of going fast, embracing gravity, and moving through the mountains with his own expression. Living in the mountains of Colorado, he loves exploring old mining ruins all over the state on his off time.

Josh has explored ranges across the world including expeditions to the Alaska range and ski descents of all 54 Colorado “14ers.” He currently wears many hats in the outdoor industry including the Tactical Director for Silverton Avalanche School and a Denali Expedition Guide for Mountain Trip while pursuing professional training in his career field. Josh is an IFMGA and AMGA Certified Mountain Guide
